St. Bruno was born in Cologne and studied at the Cathedral in Rheims. He was ordained in 1055 and became a professor of theology. He was one of the most remarkable scholars and teachers of his time. He and six companions built a monestary and founded the Carthusians order in 1084. They embraced poverty, prayers, manual labor and transcribing manuscripts. He became an advisory to the pope. He passed away in 1101. (Saints Fun Facts by John Sheppard).
Catholic saints are holy people and human people who lived extraordinary lives. Each saint the Church honors responded to God’s invitation to use his or her unique gifts. God calls each one of us to be a saint. Listen for God’s call in your life. God Bless!

Great news! Chairperson Sara Tanner has been working hard to add additional local retailers to our Scrip program and now has a new retailer just in time for the fall and the upcoming Christmas season! The Great Outdoors Company is the newest business offering a discount to our great school! They are located in Carbondale (in front of Kohl’s) and at the Sparta Shooting Complex next to our other newest retailer, J & T Caliber. Both The Great Outdoors Company (sold in $25 cards) and J & T Caliber (sold in $25 cards) are offering our school a 15% discount! What a great discount and a great way to support our local retailers who support our school!
